In 1988 the Szczecin port saw an 18-day strike (17 Aug – 3 Sep) – the longest in post-war Poland. Its outcome was negotiations that led to the Round Table talks and the fall of communism.

Myth

In 2005, Kino Pionier was listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the world's oldest cinema. However, since 2021 that title belongs to the French Eden-Théâtre (1899). Kino Pionier still holds the Guinness record as the "oldest continuously operating cinema."

The positions of three roundabouts (Plac Grunwaldzki, Plac Odrodzenia and Plac Szarych Szeregów) relative to the Oder River mirror the alignment of Orion's Belt stars relative to the Milky Way – just as the three pyramids at Giza align with the Nile.
